A week (or two) of awesome

Hello friends! I hope that you are all enjoying your hump day. It's been rainy and cold and miserable here in the Big Apple so I've spent my day inside working on lots of little fun projects and work things. It's been a fantastic couple weeks in the life of bear and I thought I'd share some merriment with you all on such a drab day. Last week I started my new job waitressing at a fantastic little pub on the Lower East Side called One and One. I'm having a great time working there - the people I work with are AWESOME SAUCE, it's got a great neighborhood vibe and the regulars are some of the funniest people I have ever met. It's my first waitressing gig and I have to admit that I'm kicking some serious butt. Woohoo! Stop by anytime and try our famous fish and chips!! We also have a fantastic selection of beers (tap and bottle) and we watch ALL the games - soccer, football, hockey, you name it - it's on. Catch me there this Sunday. I'll be the girl in the Giants jersey. GO BLUE!

BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE! If being steadily employed wasn't exciting enough, imagine this: 4 out of my 6 all time best friends are about to be so much closer to me. DUDES. THAT'S A 66.6% SUCCESS RATE RIGHT THERE!!

First up, let's talk visitors.

This is Leigh. She's awesome. She was my roommate for the second semester of my sophomore year at UM and it was love at first sight. Hands down, the best roommate I have ever had. We giggled, we danced, we studied, and we turned our room into a laundromat. It was perfect. So perfect that we decided to live together in our first house ever. Leigh-leigh will be coming to stay with me in the citay for a few days in TWO WEEKS. I'm so excited. I can't wait to play with her. It's going to be awesome. SHENANIGANS!

This is my Nattu and he is my favorite. My MOST favorite. As my oldest and best-est friend, there's nobody in the world I trust more. Thaniel and I are really good at being best friends from opposite ends of the country. When I was in Miami, he was in Boulder. Now I'm in New York and he's in Los Angeles. I miss him all the time and I wish that we could see each other more often/for more time but we gots to do what we gots to do. Anyways - he's coming for the holidays right before I leave for the holidays and we have ONE DAY of overlapping time. It's going to be an awesome day, though. I already know it. SO EXCITED TO SEE YOU MY LITTLE CHEESEBUM!

As you all know, I am Nikbear. And as most of you know (and if you didn't pick up on this yet - SHAME ON YOU) that I have a co-bear-pilot. Her name is Hillary and she is my best bear. She is my other half. The jelly to my peanut butter. The second Twix in my bear-package. The banana to my cat. It's so hard to be so goddamn far away from each other all the time, but we made a pact to see each other (roughly) every three months. AND WE'RE STICKING TO IT. For Halloween I went down to Miami and today my best bear bought her ticket to come to New York for my birthday in January. HOORAY! FRABJUOUS DAY! I spent the majority of my day dancing around like this.

WOOOOO VISITORS. I'm so stoked for the next 5 weeks. It's going to be epic.

BUT WAIT! THERE'S EVEN MORE! In case you can't do math - that was only 3 friends. And I did indeed say 4 earlier.

Outside of this epic stream of visiting loved ones, I received news yesterday that my lover-friend-bestie Alexandra may be moving into the city for a new job! And by the city I mean 12 blocks away from me. And by may I mean that she's awesome and she's probably going to get the job. I wish I had a semi-appropriate picture of the two of us to post, but alas, we fail at taking "normal" pictures together. Which in my books is a win.

Anywhoooo.... AWESOME OVERLOAD. MY BRAIN IS GOING TO EXPLODE WITH EXCITEMENT AND JOY. THERE ISN'T ENOUGH OF THAT RON SWANSON DANCE LOOP FOR ME TO ENJOY. MUST REMEMBER TO BREATHE SO I CAN STAY ALIVE LONG ENOUGH TO ENJOY ALL THIS. MUST GET OFF CAPS LOCK. Phew. I was worried for a second there.

So yes. This week has been filled with so much fantastic news that it doesn't really matter that the world outside my window is terrible and disgusting. I understand that for most of you this post doesn't really help you to cope with the weather, so I've also included below a list of awesome things to do on a rainy day/night. Enjoy, friends!

  • Give yourself a manicure (To the men - grooming is not just for lady friends. Just saying.)
  • Make your own Christmas cards
  • Bake a batch of homemade brownies
  • Grab a six pack and watch a shitty movie on Netflix
  • Do the laundry because nothing is better than a warm fluffy towel straight from the dryer
  • Read a forgotten book
  • See if you can drink an entire gallon of milk without puking
  • Give yourself a peanut butter facial
  • Make a new ringtone
  • Watch hilarious cat videos on YouTube
  • Go make friends with one of your neighbors
  • Cover the floor of your building's elevator with Solo cups

Ok, so some of those things are more ridiculous than others, but in my opinion that is an excellent list of suggestions.
