The best thing I've done for myself all year was to find a writer I love, stalk the crap out of her, and frantically grab at opportunities to meet her in the flesh. Enter my love affair with the glorious Gala Darling. I fell in love with her fashion sense and her writing style ages ago. Naturally, when I came across the opportunity to volunteer at the Blogcademy and meet her as well as two of my other blog idols (Rock'n'Roll Bride and Nubby Twiglet), I jumped up and down repeatedly and started awkwardly clawing at my computer screen screaming OHMYGODGIMMEGIMMEGIMMEGIMMEGIMMMMEEEEEE.
Well, I was luckily selected as one of two volunteers for the weekend retreat. And I met my idols. And I squeed a lot.
The best part, though, was all the positive gratitude and reenforcement I received from these three wonder women. Gala, Kat & Shauna are, hands down, some of the most down-to-earth, friendly, sweet, and kind souls I have had the pleasure of meeting.
After the whirlwind weekend I found myself reflecting on all the great information revealed, but also basking in the praise and recognition of three moguls in my industry.
It's a wonderful thing to have your idols tell you how awesome you are.
I hope that you all get to experience something like that once in your lifetime. Find someone you love, seek them out, show them how fantastic you are, and then have your mini-gloat moment to say "Yeah, that's right, I'm awesome, AND I KNOW IT." If you feel the urge to happy dance too, I'll never be the one to stop you.
I am eternally grateful to these lovely ladies for choosing me and seeing something special in me. It was just the pick-me-up I needed and has given me the strength to power through this next turbulent chapter of my life.
If they have so much faith me, how can I not have faith in myself?
Stay tuned for a REAL recap of everything I learned at the Blogcademy, and until then have an inspired day, lovely loves!
