Childhood Calling....

Hello friends! I hope that everyone has had a fantastic weekend! I spent almost all of my weekend watching tv, reading books and drinking baileys. The perfect break from all the madness of the past few weeks and all the madness to come! On Friday night I was enjoying the 500+ channels that my parents get on Dish Network and I came across some reruns of The Wonder Years. AHHH I MISS THE 90s! All my friends make fun of me because they were all born between 88 and 89 and I was born in 1990... but the 90s were awesome, I don't care what anyone says. I look at the rubbish that kids these days watch on TV and I seriously miss the shows that we grew up on. In honor of those golden days, I decided to write a quick post about some of my favorite childhood shows. Enjoy!

When I was a toddler I LOVED this show. It taught me lots of good things morally and lots of irritating things like The Song That Never Ends. Looking back on it now, though, I find it a little morbid that the main puppet's name was lamb chop. Only slightly awkward, right?

Who could ever forget the adventures of Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil and Angelica? I loved this show SO MUCH when I was a wee child. Not only was it hilarious when I was a kid, but I learned so much, mostly about Jewish history and culture... which is great for me because I consider myself to be an honorary Jew today. Sometimes I still have dreams of dinosaurs named Reptar.

I have to admit that Hey Arnold! is probably about 35% of the reason why I want to live in New York City. Even though the show is based on a fictional city that combines several major cities, to me it was always NYC. Not to mention, I loved the crazy cast and silly shenanigans and all the legends and myths of city life. And just like any little girl, I was mad about several boys just the way that Helga pined over Arnold... minus the uber creepy shrine. I swear.

Doug Funny, Skeeter Valentine, Patty Mayonaise... I think I'm in love with all of these names, future children beware. This show rocked my socks off and my brother and I watched it every day. Aside from the awesome story lines (well, awesome at that time) I loved all the songs... KILLLLEER TOOOOFFFUUUUU.

THIS WAS THE MOST AWESOME SHOW EVER. PLEASE BRING IT BACK. Everything about this game show rocked and I used to beg and plead with my mom to let my audition to be on it. I didn't really care which team, as long as I won (duh). Later in life I tried watching shows like Survivor or stupid MTV game shows hoping to recreate this childhood thrill, but Legends of the Hidden Temple stands in a category entirely on its own. Seriously. Bring this show back. Let's start a petition.

When this Boy Meets World ooooohhhh, boy meets world..... I was seriously addicted to this show for a couple of reasons. 1) Shawn is the cutest thing ever. 2) Eric Matthews is the craziest thing ever and his interactions with Feeny (Fee-hee-hee-hee-ney) were the highlight of my day. 3) HER NAME. IS TOPANGA. (Again - future children beware...) Towards the end of the series I pretty much only watched for Eric, but it was still pretty good.

So many awesome shows from the 90s. We can't forget gems like Salute Your Shorts, Animaniacs, Sailor Moon, Are You Afraid of the Dark, Pokemon, Rocko's Modern Life, Captain Planet, All That, Kenan & Kel, Pinky and the Brain, Ren & Stimpy, and so many more.

I SERIOUSLY miss the shows of my childhood, but here's the good news ... you can find a lot of these shows on Netflix Instant Watch! So make yourself a bag of popcorn and grab a box of sour patch kids ... it's time to get nostalgic, friends!
