Lately I have been thinking a lot about starting my own small media company - mostly as a side project to supplement my job applications and the hunt for my dream job (whatever that may be). I have been encouraged by several close family friends in the media industry to invest a little bit of money into a company of my own creation. The thought of this, however, is too overwhelming for me to bear. So I used today's prompt to try and help me break down this endeavor a little bit.
I wrote down my idea for my own small independently run business: I would like to run a PR, marketing and corporate event planning company. I feel that these are my strengths and this is what I like to do. Thanks to my wonderful experience interning with PADI, I have a little bit of know-how on how to do brand building, lifestyle and product marketing, and promotional corporate events. Not only are these things that I am good, but they are things that I enjoy doing.
Alright cool. So then I wrote down a list of obstacles that I think I might encounter - and that list is far too long and personal for me to want to share with all you lovely folks, but it did put a lot of things into perspective for me. Not to mention, the simple act of writing them all down was a huge weight of my shoulders - as though carrying around all my worries in my own head was starting to be too exhausting.
Dare to be bold. I like to think that I live my life based on this simple phrase, but the fact is that we all let rational thought guide our day-to-day lives far too much. I'd like to try to be a little bolder as a continue to grow older ;)
