Summertime Funtime

It finally feels like summer vacation! Classes are over, both of my internships have been completed (and I kicked ass at both, if I do say so myself) and I am one small presentation away from being done with my undergraduate academic career!! If that wasn't enough, graduation parties have been planned and going away shenanigans are in the works. I have officially booked a moving company for my migration northward, I have discussed terminating my lease early, I have started advertising the selling of some of my furniture (get at me if you are at all interested in buying a dining room table with chairs, a couch, a desk or a mini fridge).

May is going to fly by. This is both excellent and horrible news. Le sigh. If only life would slow down temporarily so that I may enjoy these last few moments in my beloved Miami.

On a completely unrelated note: SUMMERTIME MEANS FESTIE TIME! And with all the choices and my lack of funds, I'm not really sure where I'm going to be (or how I am going to get there) but I thought I'd share my options with all of you for commentary and potential meet-ups:

First up on June 4th we have Starscape Festival in Baltimore! Five stages of sheer awesomeness. Tickets are $69.50 (plus tax) - totally affordable which means that as long as I can wrangle a ride, this festie seems quite likely for me. Some of the highlights for me include: Bassnectar, Steve Aoki, Feed Me, & Riot Gear. There is plenty more talent to catch, of course. For the complete line up check out there website: http://www.starscapefestival.com/index.cfm

Next up from June 30th to July 3rd we have Electric Forest in Rothbury, Michigan. Tickets are $239.50 (plus tax) though, so this is pending me getting a sweet job (or jobs) and making bank quickly. Camping and sick beats for the win. Highlights for me include: Pretty Lights, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Excision, Chiddy Bang, & Emancipator. Full line up and more details at: http://www.electricforestfestival.com/

Lollapalooza? More like Jizzapalooza. August 5th - 7th in Chicago, this festie is sure to rock your face off. Tickets are $215 for three days of sheer awesome-sauce. Words cannot express how badly I want to go to this. I WANT TO SEE, nay, I NEED TO SEE: Eminem, Foo Fighters, Muse, Coldplay, My Morning Jacket, Arctic Monkeys, Beirut, Explosions in the Sky, Ratatat, Crystal Castles, Atmosphere, OK GO, Two Door Cinema Club, Ellie Goulding, The Mountain Goats, AND SO MANY MORE. Full line up and info: http://www.lollapalooza.com/

Last, but certainly not least, is the festival that has evaded me for the last 4 years. Electric Zoo: in my own god damn backyard in New York, but I've always been in Miami. This year hopefully I shall actually make it! September 2nd - 4th and tickets are for $249. Full line up hasn't even been announced yet, but so far I like what I see: Moby, Afrojack, Rusko, Bloody Beetroots, Digweed, Calvin Harris, Boys Noize, Carl Cox, Loco Dice, Richie Hawtin, and Gabriel & Dresden. SQUEEEE.

Well, it looks like its time to start saving mad money. Dear friends, let me know if you are planning to go for any of the above so we can meet up and dance the nights away! Enjoy the summer time and stay tuned for more updates as I prepare to up and move my whole friggin life.

x's and o's, Nikbear
