Ok. Now that we have that out of the way. Not only is this clip HILARIOUS, but it makes a very important point. We live in a world that revolves around working hard and working all the time. The economy is down, the cost of living is up, and consumerism is constantly telling us that we need a thousand things. In order to make ends meet I find that we are all working WAY TOO HARD.
Don't get me wrong - this isn't necessarily a bad thing. I've always been the first person to admit that I would much rather be working really hard all the time than bored out of my mind with nothing to do. Hard work is very rewarding, in my books, but at the same time it is extremely exhausting. With all the hustling I do on a day to day basis, I often forget to treat myself to the little things when I get a chance.
I just got back from a Jamaican vacation with my family and I have to say that taking an entire week to Treat Mah Self was the best decision I ever made. I arrived in Montego Bay sleep deprived, sore, cranky and whiney in general. I left like a brand new Nikki. I spent a lot of time chatting with my brother bear and he reminded me that it's OK to treat myself from time to time. It's OK to take a week off from the madness and just sit by the pool with a vodka pineapple and a good book.
I've made it a goal of mine to be better about treating myself this year. At least once a month I do solemnly swear to set aside at least one whole day to pamper myself. I advise you do the same, friends. It's the only way we're expected to survive the hustle and bustle of this world (and especially this city).
