Please Party Responsibly

Over 157 million parties are thrown in American urban & suburban households every year.

And with every party, comes a ton of waste. When you’re planning a party it can be all too tempting to use paper or plastic plates, utensils, and cups. But single-use goods are one of the worst contributors to environmental degradation. Not only are they filling up our landfills and overwhelming our recycling centers, but they are incredibly resource intensive to produce.

In an ideal world we’d all have enough tableware and glasses to host a soiree with 100 guests, the big bucks to hire a cleaning crew to tackle the dishes, and a massive storage closet to house everything once the party is over. For many of us, those are unattainable… and so we turn to disposable goods.

If you’re worried about cost, storage, and/or cleaning of non-disposable goods, this episode of Do What You Can For The People is for you. I am joined by Michael Cyr, the co-founder of Cup Zero - a company committed to eliminating single use waste, mitigating environmental impact and promoting environmental stewardship by eliminating the maximum amount of single use waste in events and communities.

Michael and I talk about all the available options for your small gatherings of friends/family as well as larger company-wide bashes. Check out the video below for our best tips for renting, sharing, and thinking outside the box!
